Akchhaya Tritiya falls in the bright fortnight of Baishak (May). This is also one of the most auspicious religious occasions of Nepal. Religious fairs take place in the renowned pilgrimages of Nepal. In Kathmandu it takes place in Pashupatinath. Hindu mythology believes that, on this day the people distribute drinking plain water or cold drinks and edible Satu (a special roasted sweetened barely flour made out of mixing with molasses) is distributed to the travelers who are traveling via their locality. Devotees believe that after this charity they will earn punya (virtue) and the door will be open for them easily to go in the heaven after their death. So virtuous people donate food and cloth to the poor and needy people as well. On this day religious people distribute the Satu and squash water to the pedestrians on the way. Mythology believes that if some donates money or something on this day, his money coffer never gets empty.

Virtuous people dug well, build temples and public resting houses on the way for the public convenience to earn virtue. Hindu mythology believes that if we don’t donate to the priests and the poor in this life we will becomes the poor in our next life. So for the fear of vice, people do religious deeds and donations to get good blessing from the God. So because if this, we find many religious rest houses, ponds, water spouts, wells and so many religious spots built by the virtuous people in the past and in the present as well at different part of the country.

So this day has a great religious significance in the Hindu religion, also it’s believed that since this very day, the Silver and Golden age was started. So this day has got another religious importance as well.
