In a bid to generate public awareness about health-related issues, a public health consultant from Britain is going on her 78-day trans-Himalayan trek in Nepal.
Dr. Gillian Holdsworth is starting her trekking on September 1 from Simikot in Humla west Nepal, according to a press release jointly issued by the Britain Nepal Medical Trust (BNMT) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

A walk to Mukinath is highly revealing. One can be advised to go through an experience of this joyous and rewarding walk once in a life time, if not time and again. It is not that options other than the grinds of walking are not open to reach Muktinath. One can fly to Jomsom from Pokhara in half an hour's time though one has to try one's luck with the vagaries of weather especially when it is wet or winter. From Jomsom one can walk, ride a bicycle or hire a jeep to hit at the lap of Muktinath.

August Records 18 % Growth in tourist arrivals PDF Print E-mail

The total visitor arrivals in August 2007 reached 26865, up by 4052 compared to the same month last year, according to the data released by Immigration Office Tribhuvan International Airport. European market registered a healthy growth of 36 %. in July and August. It is generally considered as low season for international tourist arrivals. However, the visitors from some countries like Italy, Korea and Spain soared up in these months. Major European markets like UK (32.5%), Germany (38.9%), France (32.9%), Italy (34.2%), Spain (46.4%) registered healthy growths in this month.

The positive trend in international tourist arrivals in Nepal continued for yet another month, as the August 2007 witnessed a growth of 18 per cent compared to the same month last year.
Total touristmonth of arrivals by air touched 26,865 in August 2007, an increment by 18 per cent from 22,813 visitors last year, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) reported, quoting data released by Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport.

British lady to start trans-Himalayan treking in Nepal PDF Print E-mail

A public health consultant from Britain is setting out for 78-day cross Nepal trans-Himalayan treking, according to a press release jointly issued by the Britain Nepal Medical Trust and Nepal Tourism Board on Friday.

Dr. Gillian Holdsworth will start her trekking on Sept. 1 from Simikot in Humla in mid-western Nepal and is expected to wrap up her expedition on Nov. 17 in Olangchungola of Taplejung in eastern Nepal, spanning approximately 1,700 km east-west length on the northern region of Nepal traversing an altitude ranging between 800 and 5,500 meters.
