Saraswoti Basanta Panchami is also one of the very important festivals. It falls in the bright fortnight of Magh(February). On this festival saraswati mother the Goddess of knowledge is worshipped grandly by all specially by the students, teachers and scholars. She is the mother of education and she is believed to be the Guru (teacher) of all kinds of education; without her worship we can’t get good knowledge. A huge assemblage of devotes takes place in every saraswati temple of the country to worship the Goddess. This occasion is called the shree panchami as well. Guardians take their small children in the temple and they are given some writing chalks in their hands to start the education by writing on the wall of the temple. Devotees believe that if the children are taken to start their education from the saraswati temple they will become a very efficient educated man of the country in the future.
A grand Saraswati puja is organized in every school on this day and if there’s no temple in that school the students are taken to take audience of the Goddess some where out side’s Saraswati temple. After the puja the prasads are distributed there in the school. So this day reminds the students about the true value of the education. Saraswati mother’s picture remains fixed to worship on the wall of every school’s office in Nepal; since she is the Goddess of knowledge; and without her honour the good education can’t be achieved. A huge fair takes place at swambhunath’s Swambhunath’s Saraswati temple in kathmandu on this day where thousands of devotees gather there to worship the Goddess; and the fair looks very much picturesque there at this time. In the same manner the fair takes place at the most reputed Saraswati temples of Nepal. Saraswati mata had got this power of knowledge by the grace of lord shiva. The Holy Swasthani scripture describes that once while Lord Shiva was wandering on the earth by taking the dead corpse of sati Devi (parvati) on his shoulder; he different parts of the body fell down one by one on the earth; and different kinds of Mahadevs(Shiva) having their different powers appeared there automatically. Sati Devi’s ovary fell down at Hiranyapur; then the Hiranyapur pith Naradeshowri Devi Tripurendri Yogini Naradeshower Mahadev originated there; and sarasati Devi recited there with many scripts; then the pleased Mahadev asked her to get some blessings; then she asked for the subjugation of all kinds of knowledge; and she was offered the blessing. So since that time of the Golden age she became the magistrate of all kinds of education of this cosmos. An uneducated man is equal to a blind man; the way the blind can not envisage this word the uneducated man also can’t envision the real world in the same manner though he has the eyes. So education is the most important thing in our life; an uneducated man can never become the Doctors, Pilots Engineers and so on. Without good education no nation can be developed; so every nation invests a lot of money on education for the development of their nation. Another specialty of this day is the inception of the spring season. The climate seems celestial day by day with the sunny environment. New enthusiasm and vivacity showers in people’s heart. President of Nepal attends to listen the Basanta Srawan at Hanumandhoka palace in Basantapur Durbar square by the Mulpurohit (chief priest) amidst a special function there on this day. Nepal Government High-level officials, foreign diplomat are also invited to attend the ceremony. After the ceremony President graces some kind of donations to the Mulpurohit. This is a kind of very pious auspicious day; any kind of special functions like puja, Bratabanda, marriages and so on can be arranged on this day without the suggestion of any priest; because without prophesizing the auspicious day no religious ceremony are arranged by the Hindus; but this is the pious auspicious day to do any kind of auspicious functions. Nepal Government offers one day government holiday to this festival. Swaraswoti Puja song Video
