RIT BAHADUR RAI was only 16 years of age when he died in IRAQ in 1941. Nobody was interested in this wee lad and even the British Ministry Of Defense held no record of him. I HAVE CHANGED ALL THAT. They know now. My visit to the cemetery will be a lone one as I do not belong to any organisation. There will be no great fuss - just a 75 year old piper playing "Going Home" to a young Gurkha who never did. Any are welcome to join me but rememeber that we gather to pay tribute in humility. Among the temples Pindeshwar, Dantakali and Pancha Kanyan are the must visit because of their distinct architecture styles. Bhedetar, located 9 Kilometer away from Dharan, is probably the best viewpoint in the entire Tarai region. Weather permitting; one can witness magnificent views of the Himalayan range from this site. The Dhankuta Municipaly and a group of trekking guides have located the village and family relatives of RIT BASHADUR RAI. So once again I will be returning to Nepal in Novermber 2010.
