Mata Tirtha Aunshi falls in the month of Baishak dark fortnight (April). This festival falls in the time of dard moon’s time; so its called Mata Tirtha Aunshi. “Mata” means mother and “Tirtha” means pilgrimage; so in this way it’s called “Mata Tirtha Aunshi”. This festival is observed in the commemoration and respect of the mother. So its mother’s reading day as well. Devotees worship their living mother at their home itself and the persons whose mothers have been passed away; they go to the Mata Tirtha Pilgrimage; which is located towards the valley’s eastern side at Mata Tirtha Village development committee’s periphery. People bow their head on their mother’s feet and worship her providing with delicious foods; nice clothes; and some monetary donations as per their caliber to get good blessings from her. Hindu mythology believes that parents are our like the God; and if we appease them we get very successful life. That’s why people worship their mother in a very soaring way on this day. A very grand spectacular religious fair takes place at Mata Tirtha Pilgrimage on this day. Thousands of devotees flock there in the high reverence of their deceased mothers. After the holy bath and worship; they donate some subsidiary items with money to the Bharaman priest staying; citing religious booklets there. Also they subscribe subsidiary items and money to the poor and needy people as well. Scripture believes that if some one donates on this day, it reaches automatically to their heavenly resided mother’s place and they will definitely be blessed for happy life from her. That’s why people seem thronging hugely in this pilgrimage on this day. The scripture delineates that there’s no other god greater than our parents. Our mother kept us ten months inside her fetus with severe pain; and she bore a very hard agony to give us birth. She fed us her breast’s milk and bred us when we were helpless and, not able to earn anything for our livelihood. By her tender, kind and gentle care, we are grown and got this golden opportunity to look this wonderful world. So the scripture guides that we are very much indebted to our mother and her debt is un-payable. So it’s said that if someone afflicts his mother and puts her in distress, he will definitely fall in disaster always in his life by her curse. So we should always look after our mother when she suffers from any king of miseries. “Janani Janmabhumishya Swargadapi Gariyashi” means mother and the motherland place is celestial than the heaven too. Truly too, we can’t get the affection like our mother’s and the amicable ambience like our native place’s any where in the word. So this day illustrates us to pay a very high respect to our mother for our happy life. Also someone who have hated their mothers in the time of her living and received a very distressed life; they also expiate and come to worship in this pilgrimage with humble apologies from her. By his expirations, all of the vices run away from him; then definitely legend regarding to this pilgrimage. There is a very interesting legend regarding to this pilgrimage. In ancient time Lord Krishna’s mother Devaki walked out her house for sight-seeing. She visited manyplaces and delayed a lot to return back at her house. Lord Krishna became very unhappy because of his mother’s tedious long time’s disappearance. So he went out in search of his mother to many palces’ but he couldn’t find anywhere. Finally when he reached at “Mata Tirtha Kunda”; he was happened to see his mother; taking bath there in the spouts of that pond. Lord Krishna became very much happy to find her there and narrated all of his tragedies in the absence of his mother. Mother Devaki said to lord Krishna that “oh! Son Krishna let then, this place be the pious rendezvous of children to meet their departed mothers”. So legends believe that since then; this place had become a noted holy pilgrimage to see back; a devotees’ deceased mother. Also legend believes that; a long time back; a devotee saw his mother’s image inside the pond and he happened to die falling there down. So still there is a small pond fenced by the iron rods in the place even on this present day as well. After the worship the pilgrimage enjoy there singing and dancing throughout the day in the festive mood.
