Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) launched a "tourism song" named "Paryeton" keeping in view the upcoming Tourism Year 2011 (NTY) on Sunday.
Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Sharat Singh Bhandari unveiled the new song at a program held at the NTB office in the capital.
The song was played to the audience gathered at the NTB hall after the opening ceremony and Minister Bhandari said he liked the song. He also said that tourism is one of the biggest and profitable industries in Nepal.
"So, let's hope NTY 2011 will be very fruitful for our country's economy and to the people of Nepal as well," Minister Bhandari said. He, however, added that much publicity still needs to be done to ensure the success of NTY 2011.
"An awareness campaign should be started. Every village, town and city in the country should know about the NTY-2011," Bhandari said.
During the programme, NTB also informed that the official launching of NTY-2011 will take place in Tundikhel on February 26, 2010.
The tourism song is written by Durga Lal Shrestha. The music and composition is done by Nihu Bajracharya and Ani Choing Dolma gave her voice to the song as a lead singer.
NTB is planning to give the song to every broadcasting company in the country for the publicity of NTY 2011.

Nepal Mountain Biking
Mountain biking is a fantastic way to explore Nepal. The allow you to travel independently and stop where ever you want. You do not have to tortuous buses. You can explore secluded places and reach places that can not be visited any other way.
Nepal has many trails to ride on. You can make a challenging climb thousands of metres to reach a viewpoint with fantastic views. Then you make an exhilarating descent. It is an interesting trip ride to Royal Chitwan National Park.
The long bike tours require that you are physical fit. Unless you plan to ride along a trekking route, there is no required paperwork. To do any serious biking you need a mountain bike, and a normal bike will not do.
The Kathmandu Valley has some great places to ride. It has many trails and backroads. It is a good way to visit the interesting towns, temples and Buddha stupas. It can be really interesting visiting a rarely visited traditional Newari village. To get around the valley you most likely will want a good map, such as the Schneider or Nelles Verlag map. Most of the other maps are not very good and are often inaccurate.
Many trails are not on maps and you will need a good sense of direction and will have to stop and ask directions to get around. A little Nepali can really help.

Everest Gokyo Lake Trekking
Gokyo Lake trek is beginning with the spectacular mountain flight to Lukla we are rewarded with amazing mountain views. We visit Namche Bazaar, Thami and Khumjung spending valuable time acclimatizing to the altitude amidst the Himalayan peaks of Thamserku, Ama Dablam and Kangteiga, to mention just a few. If Gokyo is the ultimate destination rather than Everest then the Everest trail is followed as far as the teahouses at Kenjoma (where the trail from Khumjung joins the main trail). From here the Gokyo trail climbs up the hillside to a pass at Mong La before dropping steeply back down to the banks of the Dudh Koshi. The next two hours of trekking, through beech, rhododendron and oak forest, past waterfalls, which are often frozen, and ultimately through pine forests before breaking out above the tree line is one of the best sections of any trail in the area. Just above the trees line are the teahouses of dole, a convenient stopping place for the first night.
The following day must be very short if you are to avoid altitude problems. it only takes around for hours to reach Machherma but this is as far as most trekkers should travel that day. The valley that leads west above Manchherma is well worth an afternoon visit. it is here that the last reported sighting of a yeti was made. A yeti sighting unlikely but the valley is stunning none the less. The rocky bulk of Kyajo Ri, an unclimbed and impressive peak, dominates the head of the valley.
Itinerary:
Day-01: Arrive Katmandu:, Transfer to the hotel. Welcome Dinner in the evening.
Day-02: Sight seeing Kathmandu valley (Breakfast)
Day-03 : Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding (2800m) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
A spectacular flight in a Twin Otter 20-seater aircraft with an even more spectacular landing on the 600m airstrip. The trail from Lukla joins the Dudh Kosi main track at Cheplung after a short downhill walk. There follows some gentle up and down to the night stop. An easy start to the trek.
Day-04 : Phakding - Namche Bazar (3440m) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
The route now passes through magnificent rhododendron and magnolia forests on the ascent to Namche. At Monjo, we enter the Sagarmatha National Park. Look out for musk deer and Himalayan tahr, and water rats in the Dudh Kosi.
Day-05 : Namche Bazar (3440m) (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Rest and acclimatisation day. Walk up the western valley from the town to Thamo, visit the nunnery there.
