Kakani and Hiking Place PDF Print E-mail

Kakani is a Village Development Committee in Nuwakot District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal.Kakani is located 29 Kilo meter north-west of the Kathmandu valley. We can catch kakani within only two hours by bus, car, bike from kathmandu city. From Kakani the trail leads to the east along graveled motor-able road. The entire trail goes on a level path where can be seen numerous picnic spots and small village en route. We hike for about three hours to Bhanjyang with about 20 minutes steep climb before we reach there. The tranquility of the surrounding gives you the immense pleasure and the Himalayas like Annapurna, Machhapuchhare, Ganesh Himal, Langtang can be viewed from there.  There is an unusually perfect blending of the imposing mountain scenery with the more sylvan environment of the lower valleys. Rhododendrons growing wild on the mountain slopes begin to bloom in late winter and stay in bloom for several months, giving the village even more charm.

If you are thinking about hiking in Nepal, but you do not want to spend more than a day in the wild, then there are a variety of day hikes just for you. Day hikes provide hikers with the opportunity to explore the beauty and splendor of the countryside a few hours at a time. It also allows hikers to hike in different regions of Nepal and experience the great variety of routes and adventures that are just waiting to be enjoyed.

Many visitors to Nepal travel to Kathmandu as there are a few hikes that can easily be reached from here. These include the Kakani to Bhanjyang hike. Kakani is located approximately 30 kilometers to the north of Kathmandu and it is the village with the best view of the central mountain range. From Kakani you will be able to look out over Annapurna, Ganesh Himal and Dhaulagiri. It is one of the most breathtaking sights you will ever see. The village is surrounded by a carpet of rhododendrons for most of the year which further adds to its majestic and secluded atmosphere.

The hike from Kakani to Bhanjyang will give visitors a unique look at the Arun Valley with its beautiful landscapes and provide the perfect opportunity to bump into a few of the local residents of the region. The native peoples living here are mostly Rai, Sherpa and Limbus. Bhanjyang is the highest point of the hike and hikers will have the option to walk a little further to explore the Lake Salpa Holy Lake. The lake is situated at approximately 3 414 meters and is a spectacular sight to visit.    Passing through the forests of rhododendron, pine and oak allows hikers to get close to nature and, while stopping off at a picnic area, take some time to soak up the wonder and indescribable beauty of the entire route. Hiking in Nepal is an exciting and rewarding adventure. It opens doors to world that cannot be seen from a car window, flying in an airplane overhead or by looking at a picture. The natural splendor of this region needs to be felt on the breeze, heard through cheerful songs of the birds and seen from a hilltop. Here nothing but beauty surrounds you.

    Dear Travellers,
!!Namaste and warm Greetings from Himalayan Country Nepal!!
My name is Sanjib Adhikari. As an independent trekking guide and tour operator in Nepal, I would like to introduce myself to you.
I was born and grown up in the rugged and remote district in the Central Himalayan region. I started my career in the adventure tourism at the very young age after completing my high school level studies, working for different trekking companies for seven years in different capacities sometimes as porter, assistant guide and now working as an Independent trekking guide. I have already obtained trekking guide license from the ministry of tourism, government of Nepal.
I have guided many international groups especially from Europe, USA, Canada, Australia in Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Mustang, Dolpo, Kanchanjunga, Makalu, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Helambu regions in Nepal and Mt. Kailash, Lasha in tibet also Ladak and Sikkim in India and have thus gained diversified experience and extensive knowledge on geography, religion, culture, local flora and fauna and on environmental issues in the areas where I personally organized the treks. My first experience on many trekking routes has made me an expert on making unique trekking itineraries as per the tastes, interests and budget of the western clients. For those international trekkers who want to climb high mountain passes and peaks, I can also organize this challenging and rewarding adventure. My experience in adventure tourism includes climbing to Mera peak, Island peak, Kalapathar, Gokyo peak, Tseryo ri and I have led expeditions across many high passes in Nepal, Larkye pass, Ampulapcha Pass, Chola pass, Renjula pass, Tashilapcha pass, Ganjala pass, thorong pass, Tilicho pass, (Mesokantola pass).
There are many types of treks available in Nepal, ranging from relaxed easy trekking where you can experience Nepalese Culture and Village life staying overnight in local lodges (tea-houses) in popular regions, to remote and restricted areas trekking that are off the beaten track and seldom visited by foreigners. All treks offer spectacular scenery and a good experience about Nepalese culture. If anyone wants to have tailor made treks, I can meet their requirements.
From time to time I keep upgrading my skills and knowledge by taking refresher trainings on safety, sanitation, first–aid, emergency rescue, hygiene and cooking. I am fluent in English, Chinese and computer literate. I can explain all tourism related topics to the best of my knowledge.

We went to Kakani Scout training area with the support of Nepal scout on 23rd Manghsir 2068. We reached there at around 12:30 pm. We can get friendly, peace and family environment in Kakani. Kakani is a small village on a ridge (2073m) some 30 kilometers north west of Kathmandu. You can reach the village by cycling (or taking a bus/taxi) the road towards Dhunche/Trisuli Bazaar from Balaju. On a clear morning or afternoon mountain views are wonderful. Besides that you can hike in the surroundings, practices wall climbing at the climbing wall of the Nepal Mountaineering Association or make a mountain bike trip. Kakani is also suitable for trainings, rock climbing, nature trails, day picnics, social and community programs, short family and group vacations, etc.
