Raradah situated on an altitude of 12980 m is 6 km long and nearly 1 km wide and is found on the northern slope of Guruchi Lekh (north of Jumla). It is of trapezium shape and comparatively wider at the western end. It is beautiful scenic spot with all high altitude trees (pine, sprucea juniper) found in western Himalayas and snow ranges nearby. There are camping grounds on the southern bank. If an airport is constructed many people from all over the world will enjoy the heavenly beauty. Next big lake is Phewa lake in the Pokhara valley. It is in Marse Khola (river) and is lensoidal shape. It is nearly 3 km. wide. In the same area of Pokhara in other river valley are found the Begnas Lake and the Rupa lake. Now one can drive near to these lakes. There are other small lakes in the pokhara valley. The third cluster of big lakes lies north of Kathmanduin the area of Gosaikunda. There are numerous deep lakes. Gosain Kunda, Bhairav kunda, and Suraj kunda are important in size and beauty.
Lake Ringmo at an altitude of 11875 feet(3620 m) above the sea level and at the top foot of Kagmara lekh (29246’) with steep slope, rocky terrain and very few vegetation is found in Dolpo area of Dhaulagiri zone. The lake is 4 km. long and 1 km. wide. This is also called Phoksundo tal. It is named as Ringmo lake after the Ringmo village. The lake water generates a water fall of 550 feet (167 m.). From Dhorpatan airstrip it takes 10 days to walk. One has to cross the Bhanjyang. There is a small settlement on the southern side of lake. Lake Tilicho lies at an altitude of 4920 m. and is one of the highest elevation lake of the world. It is 4 km. long 1.25 km wide. This was discovered in 1950 A.D. by Mauric Herzong of the French expedition. The valley of Tilicho is a basin fed by numerous glaciers. This lake can be approached from Jomsom via Theni Village. Lake Gokhyo also known as Dudh Pokhari is the biggest lake of the Kumbu Himal. It is situated at 4878 m. The important is Kathmandu Valley. Semi lake condition was prevalent in Panchkhal Banepa and Pokhara Valleys, Mariphant (Tansen) Dang and Surkhet Valleys. Mai Pokhari in Illam, and Raja Pokhari in Churia hill of eastern Nepal are due to subsidence.
